dc.description.abstract | The dissertation focuses on Charles Dicken's vision of a man alienated and isolated in the world of capitalism when he wants to become upper class man earning more money which he thinks to be possible only by marrying Estella. The study has explored the greed for money and class consciousness and the corrupting influence they exert on human beings in a capitalist society. Money emerges as the agent of isolation in the capitalist society. Pip is perverted in his natural affection and cut off from those nearest and most loyal to him because of his expectations for money. | en_US |
