Abstract

This thesis has been prepared to identify and analyze errorscommitted by the grade nine students of Public Schools in the use ofplural nouns.In order to carry out this study the researcher collected datafrom grade nine students of Rupandehi District. Two types of tools: testsand questionnaire were used to collect the data.Onehundred studentswere participated in the study. A set of test item was administered to thestudents. Having analyzed the errors committed on the tests, theresearcher again visited the selected schools and distributed a set ofquestionnaire to the concerned teachers to obtain relevant information. The findings of the study show that students committed 43.48percentage errors out of the total sample test. They committed moreerrors in complete irregular nouns than conditional regular nouns. The study consists of four chapters. Chapter one deals with theintroduction. It consists of theEnglish language, theEnglish course ofgrade nine, anoverview of noun,anoverview of errors, reviewof therelated literature, objectives and significance of the study. Chapter two describes the methodology which includessources ofdata collection and limitation of the study. Chapter three includes the analysis and interpretation of data. Itdeals with the total errors in terms of item, types of question, school and sex. Chapter four consists of findings and recommendations made in the light of findings.
