dc.description.abstractThis study entitled Role of organic tea farming in rural development "A Case Study of Gorkha tea Farming of Suryodaya Municipality ward no.9, Ilam", Nepal was an attempt to analyze income generating activities of the farmers living around the area This study pursued social research methodology, both qualitative and quantitative. It was based on the exploratory and descriptive study research designs. HHs survey was done with the semi structured questionnaire. The data collected from observation and questionnaires were minutely analyzed. After the analysis ,it was found that the female participation in social development process is lower than male but the participation of women is increasing day by day as manyself -help groups, IN GOs local governments sector are formulating and implementing their programs targeting this under privileged women ,the people are mainly based on agriculture and livestock as their occupation ,the tea labors gets mall amount of facilities viz. land,quarter,soft lone, emergency loan,and some money residence, the labors life is not secured as they can be fired at any time from their job and bazaars including local products is promoting which has helped this area and due to the tea estate the tourism industry is developing local markets ,local people in strengthening their economy the tea garden has controlled the soil erosion,floods and landslides in this area , there is not excessive use of chemical fertilizer and pesticides that was the positive aspects. this study consists of five chapters :chapters one introduces the study in terms of general background ,statement of the problem, objectives of the study, significance of the study and organization of the study. chapter two deals with review of related literature .chapter three deals with the methodology which consists of Research design, study area, the universe and sample, nature and sources of the data and limitation of the study. Likewise chapter four deals with the study area and the farmers which consist of locations of the study area. It concerned with the income generating activities and socio-economic condition of the study area. Finally chapter five deals with the summary, findings,conclusion and recommendation of this study.en_US
