Captains Courageous presents the protagonist, Harvey Cheyne who chooses his course of life himself, disregarding the familial prosperity. In the journey of his life, he has to struggle with ineffable suffering and sometimes feels alienated and frustrated. Still he does not follow others’ orders and does hard work incessantly to fulfill his commitment of a great fisherman. In the course of journey, he crosses vivid bars and troubles to achieve distinct individuality. In doing so, he has freedom to choose which invites untold sufferings in his life and suffers a lot. So, his feeling of suffering, loneliness, frustration, isolation, and displacement does not make him weak, but rather it strengthens him to cross and finally becomes an honest fisherman. So, he becomes able to maintain his freedom and choice, i.e. true existence.en_US
