Abstract
Walker’sMeridianfocuses on the guilt felt by the protagonist Meridian Hill and the release from
the guilt. Walker through her protagonist asserts that women must realize their strength which lies
within themselves. Meridian overcomes her feeling of guilt through self realization and through selfless
work which she does for her community. She helps troubled mothers and women because she
understands the problems of other women. Finally, Meridian learns to value her own life and has love
for herself and her community. Walkerasserts that by respecting one’s life and by understanding one’s
potential and strength women can proceed ahead.
