dc.description.abstractThe current study,Application of Recent Methodologies in ELT: Teachers' Perceptions and Practices,aims to find out the teachers'perceptions and practices of recent methodologies in the ELT classrooms.To meet the objectives of the study, ten different private boarding schools and thirty English language teachers teaching in those schools were selected through purposive non-random sampling procedures. The researcher adopted questionnaire and observation checklist as data collection tools. It has been found that English language teachers have positive attitude towards recent methodology and teachers were practicing recent methodologies such as Task Based Language Teaching,Post Method Pedagogy, Communicative Language Teaching Method, etc.in their classrooms. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter presents the background of the study,statement of the problem, objectives of the study, Research questions, Significance of the study, Delimitations of the study and definitions of key terms used in this work. The second chapter includes review of related theoretical literature, review of related empirical literature, implications of the review for the study, and conceptual framework. The third chapter is about the methodology used in the process of this study,population, sample and sampling strategy,tools for data collection, data collection procedure, and data analysis and interpretation procedure. The fourth chapter is analysis and interpretation of the data. Chapter five includes findings, conclusion and recommendations. Furthermore, recommendations are categorized as policy related, practice related and further research related. The final chapter is followed by the references consulted to carry out this study which is finally followed by the appendices.
