dc.description.abstractThethesisentitled"Noun Phrase Structure in Magar and English"is anattempt to identify noun phrase structure intheMagar language and to compareand contrast them with that of English. The researcher has found out that theMagar is an SOV patterned language whereas English is an SVO one. Both theMagar and English languagesconsist of an obligatory head in the noun phrase.The head of the nounphrase can be realized bynoun, pronounand adjective. Thenounphrase has the premodification and postmodification system in bothlanguages.The researcher collected the data from forty-eight native speakers oftheBarah Magri language also known astheDhut Magar language. Two VDCsnamely Kawasoti and Shivamandir of Nawalparasi district were theresearcher'sfields to elicit data from the informants.Heused both the primaryand secondary sources to carry out this research work. Thethesisconsists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with introduction;itconsists of general background, importance of the English language, thesociolinguistic situation of Nepal, an introduction to the Magar language, anintroduction to thenoun phrase structure, CA and its importance on languageteaching, review of related literature, objectives of the study and significance ofthe study. Chapter two deals with methodology;it encompasses sources ofdata, population of study, sampling procedure, research tools, processes of datacollection and limitations. Chapter three deals with analysis, interpretation andpresentation of data;it comprises identification and analysis of the noun phrasestructure in the Magar language and similarities and differences between theMagar and English noun phrase structures.Chapter four encompasses findingsand recommendationsfor pedagogical implications.en_US
