Learning of English as a Foreign Language

Abstract

This study entitled"Learning of English as a Foreign Language"was an attempt to find out the techniques of foreign language learning used by foreign language learners. The objective of this study was to find out the learning strategies used by foreign language learners who are studying in public school in Janapath Secondary School, Kalanki and to see the impact of learning strategies in their performance. To meet the objectives of the research twenty learners of primary level were selected from Grade five. The collected data were analyzed using the statically and informal interaction with students and teachers. It was found that memory strategies were used to a greater extent although all kinds of other learning strategies were used by students. This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with the general background, literature review, objectives and the significance of the study. The second chapter contains the methodology which includes the sources of data,population of the study, sampling procedure, tools for data collection, process of data collection, limitations of the study. The third chapter presents the analysis and interpretation of data obtained from the field. The fourth chapter deals with the findings and recommendations of the study in which some pedagogical implications have been presented.
