dc.description.abstractThe Present studywasan attemptto explore the role of motivational strategiessuch as role-play, picture describingand conversationin developing students’speaking skill. To fulfill the objective,I followed action research design. It wasquantitativeinnature. The required data were collected through tests. Thesample size includedtwenty students fromShree Shiva Shakti HigherSecondary SchoolofBankedistrict. I adopted purposive non-random samplingprocedureto select the sample. After selecting the sample, a pre-test wasadministered. It was done to find out anexisting speaking ability ofthelearners. The result showed that students speaking ability was not satisfactory.Then,Iused to motivational techniques andintervened the students for 24days. I motivated the studentsby generating students’ interest, encouragingpositive retrospectiveandself-evaluationduring my actions. I conductedtwoprogress testsin theinterval of six days.The progress testsresult showed theprogress of the students'in speaking ability. After completion of24 lessons, Iconducted post-test.Later the score of allfour tests were compared with eachother. Thetests score showedsignificant increments whichhelp me to concludethat motivational strategies played constructive role to develop students'speaking ability.This thesis incorporatesof the five chapters. The first chapter consists ofintroduction, background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives ofthe study, research question, significance of the study, delimitation of the studyand operational definitions ofthe key terms. Similarly, insecondchapter’sreview of theoretical and empirical literature along with conceptual frameworkareincluded.Similarly, the third chapter deals with methodology under whichdesign of the study, population and sample, sampling procedures, tools for datacollection and procedures of data collection. In the same way, in the chapterfour analyses of data and interpretation of results are presented. The fifthchapter consists of finding, conclusion, recommendation and implication of thestudy.References and appendices are attached at the endof the study.en_US
