Majhi and English Pronominals

Abstract

The present research study entitled "Majhi and English Pronominals: AComparative Study"attempted to look into pronominal systems of the twolanguages; English and Majhifrom a comparative perspective. I utilized bothprimary and secondary sources of data. The population consisted of thirty fiveMajhi native speakers to elicit Majhi pronominals but English pronominals weretaken from secondary sources. A set of interviewschedule was prepared as a toolof data collection. After collecting data, the data were checked by the researcherbeing a participant observer for one week. The finding of the research is that theMajhi language has greater number of pronouns than English, Majhi possessivepronouns are categorized under three numbers; singular, dual and plural butEnglish pronouns are categorized under two numbers; singular and plural, reflexivepronouns and possessive pronouns are categorized under three categories; 1 and 3 rd person in both languages. Both English and the Majhi languages havedemonstrative pronouns, which show proximal and distal relationships. Majhi hasmore interrogative pronouns than English. This study consists of four major chapters. The firstchapter deals with theintroduction, review of the related literature, objectives of the study, andsignificance of the study. The second chapter includes methodology adopted tobring out this research work. The third chapter presents the analysis andinterpretation of the data. The fourth chapter includes findings andrecommendations made upon the analysis and interpretations of the data. st ,2 nd
