dc.description.abstractThis research work entitled “Forms of welcoming, thanking and expressing good wishes in Bantawa and English” has been carried out to find out the forms of welcoming, thanking and expressing good wishes in Bantawa and to compare and contrast them with those of the English language. It compared and contrasted on the basis of the language forms used for respected people, family members,relatives,strangers, friends, mother, father,elder brother, sister, great festivals.The data were collected from 40 native speakers of Bantawa language from Hatuwagadhi Rular Municipality, Bhojpur district. The informations were selected using purposive nonrandom sampling procedure. The data were collected with the help of questionnaire and interview. The sources of data for English were collected from different books, thesis, dictionaries and articles. The researcher found that both English and Bantawa native speakers use formal and polite from while welcoming to respected people, relatives,and unfamiliar friends and with senior family members. They use the informal form of welcoming with junior family members, familiar friends and with servant. Bantawa native speakers use the polite form of thanking with mother compared to English people. While expressing good wishes on the occasion of birthdays, marriage anniversaries and great festivals speaker of both languages use the polite and formal form. xv This is divided into five different chapters. The first chapter, ‘introduction’ includes the background, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research question of the key term. Chapter second, deals with the theoretical literature, empirical literature, implications and conceptual frameworks. The third chapter deals with the methodology employed to conduct the study. The method and procedures of the study incorporate the research design,population,sample and sampling strategy, study areas and tools, data collection tools and techniques, data collection procedure and data analysis and interpretation procedure come under in third chapter. Analysis and interpretation of results are presented in the fourth chapter. The fifth chapter deals with the conclusion and recommendations. Some implications of the study in policy level, practice level and further research are presented in this section. This chapter is followed by reference and appendices to make the study scientific, valid, reliable and authentic.en_US
