The present study entitled "Difficulties and Attitudes of Primary Level Teachers Regarding the Use of English as a Medium of Instruction" was carried out to explore attitudes of primary level teachers and to find out difficulties faced by primary level teachers teaching through English medium in public schools mainly in Syangja district. To find out the attitudes and difficulties of primary level teachers, I used both open-ended questions and closed-ended questions. Data collected from informants were tabulated and analyzed applying simple statistical tools i.e. tables. From the collected data, I found that primary level teachers knew the global needs and importance of the English language. They had positive responses. So, they are practicing to use it to bring and adjust the students in English environment. Majority of the teachers are interested to support and teach their respective subjects through English medium. Moreover, most of the teachers found that student's age, different environment, less exposure, scarcity of instructional materials, lack of trained and fluent English teachers, less motivation and less interaction are the difficulties. Due to these difficulties they can't give clear concept to the students. All the informants agreed and presented their views supporting English as a medium of instruction in public school. Furthermore, the informants suggested to minimize the difficulties, teachers should be provided subject wise training with ELT materials. This thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one consists of general background, review of related literature, objectives and significance of the study. Chapter two consists of methodology adapted in course of the study i.e. both primary and secondary sources of data, sampling population and sampling procedures, process of data collection, tools for the data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three presents analysis and interpretations of the data obtained through primary sources. Similarly, chapter four contains findings and recommendations which are derived with the help of the analysis and interpretation of the data.
