| dc.description.abstract | This study was mainly concerned with the Errors Committed By Grade Eight Students In Reported Speech The main purpose of this study was to identify errors in the use of reported speech a grammatical item of English. One hundred students of four different schools of Kapilvastu district were randomly selected for the study. Then the researcher prepared two sets of test items as a tool consisting of questions. He visited the selected schools and administered the test. The errors were examined and identified by him. The study found out that most of students were weak in using correct aspect of tense in reported speech. They committed 37 errors in tense, 45 errors in persons and 51 errors in adverbials. The students committed more errors in conversion in direct speech. They made 133 total errors out of 200 problems. Similarly, there were lack of teaching materials and lack of practice. This thesis is organized into five chapters. Chapter one includes background of the study. It also consists of statement of the problem, objectives of the study, significance of the study and delimitations of the study.The second chapter deals with the review of the theoretical literature,previous studies implication of the review for the study and conceptual frame work.The third chapter deals with the design and method of the study, population, sample, and sampling strategy, data analysis and interpretation procedures. The fourth chapter deals with analysis of data and interpretation of the result and summary of findings. The fifth Chapter has conclusions and recommendation of the study. It concludes the findings and presents some pedagogical implications and recommendations at policy related level, practice related level and further related research. The final part of the thesis entails references and appendices. | en_US |
