| dc.description.abstract | This research work entitled English Language Teachers’ Perceptions towards Using Project Work in ELT has been carried out to find out lower secondary level English teachers’ perception towards using project work as an instructional technique in ELT and its usefulness in ELT. I used non- random purposive sampling procedures to select 30 English language teachers teaching at lower secondary level schools of Kathmandu district. Attitudinal data were elicited through using a set of questionnaire consisting of close-ended and open –ended questions. The data obtained from 30 participants were analyzed and interpreted descriptively using simple statistical tools and tables. After the analysis and interpretation of collected data, it was found that the majority of participants had positive perceptions towards using project work in ELT. It was also found that project work is useful technique in ELT. It integrates four language skills, contextualizes learning presenting the learners to the problems to solve. It helps learners to be self-dependent in evaluating their own work and helps to develop the students’ language performance improving their language skills and functions. It was also revealed that project work can be more effective and relevant if it is carried out on the basis of socio- cultural aspects of students. This study consists of five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction which includes the background of the study, statement of the problems, objective of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms. Chapter two consists of the review of literature. It includes the review of theoretical literature, empirical literature and conceptual framework. Chapter three deals with the methodological part adopted for the study. It includes research design, population, sample, sampling size and sampling procedures, research tools, sources of data and procedures of data collection and ethical considerations of the study. Chapter four incorporates with the analysis of data and interpretation of result and chapter five encompasses the findings, conclusion and recommendations of the study. | |
