Knowledge, Behaviour and Attitude Towards Stis, Hiv and Aids among Secondary and Higher Secondary School Students (A Case Study of Shakranti VDC of Terhathum District)

Abstract

This study is based on primary data, collected from one higher secondary school of Terhathum district. There are 95 respondents selected in 9, 11 and 12 grades by using systematic random sampling technique (SRST). The selected respondents for this purpose represent all indigenous, Dalits as well as girl respondents. The main and first objective of this study in conducting in this area is to know the level of knowledge, attitude and behavior of the school going students of 9, 11, and 12 grades and the second objective of this study is that this type of research had not been carried out before in the area. The major findings of this study are: • About 97 percent of the total respondents have heard STIs. • Hundred percent respondents have heard HIV/AIDS. • Those respondents who have heard STIs, HIV and AIDS also know the symptoms, transmissions, and preventives measures of these problems. Teachers are the main source for both STIs and HIV/AIDS. Behaviorally, only few numbers of respondents are involved in sexual intercourse and those who are involve and not, both types of respondents are aware about using family planning methods in avoiding STIs and HIV/AIDS.
