dc.description.abstractThe present research work explores the tormented state of the protagonist Linda Brent in Harriet Jacobs’s Incidents in the life of a Slave Girl.Linda Brent undergoes series of physical, mental and emotional torture from her master in the form of sexual harassment, violence and distorted family relationship which are the setbacks of slavery. She composes her own songs and hymns which represent her innermost emotions towards slavery. It expresses traumatic experiences of the slave girl Linda Brent who undergoes trauma throughout her life because of her direct personal experience of the corrupting influence and the psychological abuses of slavery.en_US
