dc.description.abstract | Maithili belongs to the Eastern sub-group of the Indo-Aryan group within the Indo-Aryan family. It forms a sub-group withBhojpuri and Magahi and is linguisticallycloser toAssamese,BanglaandOriya than to its more contiguous language, namely,Hindi and Nepali. It is the second major language of Nepal. This work entitled ‘Nominal Morphology in Maithili Language’ attempts todescribe noun and pronoun along with their number, gender, case, honorificity andclassifier. This thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter gives the introduction ofMaithili language. The second chapter is the focal point of this dissertation whichdeals with noun and pronoun in detail. The last chapter summarizes the whole thesisand presents a brief conclusion. | en_US |
