This research work investigates the concept of colonialism and its psychological effect on formerly colonized African people in V.S. Naipaul's A Bend in the River. The study examines the suffering of those people and their struggles to maintain identity and self-image in this modern world which is free from colonial rule. In this period every society of the world are changing. It is very difficult for the people to adjust and save own identity and culture which is really their original. Each and every society of the world is dominated by rich and prosperous culture such as European and American. People especially from poor community/country are confused either to adopt or reject those dominating culture. The topic was chosen as relevance of today's world where every third world countries are trying to raise up from Eurocentric approach but not being success in this process. The research examines how formerly colonized people are suffering from European domination and how they could compete with modern world to get complete freedom without losing own identity and culture.en_US
