The present thesis entitled "A STUDY ON MAGAR, NEPALI AND ENGLISH HOUSEHOLD TERMS" aims at comparing and contrasting the household terms used in the English, Magar and Nepali languages. The researcher collected data from both primary and secondary sources. The sample population of the study consisted of 40 Magar native speakers to whom the questionnaires were distributed. He consulted the standard Nepali and English dictionaries to collect the data from Nepali and English. The data were analyzed in order to find out the similarities and differences. The major findings of this study are : Almost all the household terms in each language belong to colloquial in terms of their stylistic features. The Magar language is richer in its variation in comparison to English and Nepali because most of the Magar household terms are realized differently due to geographical distribution. The English language has the least number of household terms in comparison to Magar and Nepali because it has many neutral terms to refer them. The study consists of four chapters. Chapter one deals with introduction. It consists of general background, review of the related literatures, objectives of the study, significance of the study and definitions of the specific terms. Chapter two deals with methodology, i.e how the research was carried out. It includes sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedure, research tools, process of data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three deals with analysis and interpretation of the data. It comprises correlation, comparison and main areas of differences of the household terms used in English, Magar and Nepali. Chapter four incorporates findings and recommendations. On the basis of the analyzed data some findings have been listed, and, in turn, on the basis of these findings some recommendations have been made.en_US
