dc.description.abstractABSTRACTThe present study entitled “Verbal Affixation in English and Baitadeli” aims atfinding out to identify verbal affixes in Baitadeli dialect, to point out similaritiesand differences in the verbal affixation of English and Baitadeli and to suggestsome pedagogical implications on the basis of findings of the study. To carry outthe research work, the researcher collected the data distributing the questionnairesto eighty native speakers of Baitadeli from two VDCs; Ganjari and Shibaling of,Baitadi district by using judgmental non-random sampling procedure. Thestudyshowed that both English and Baitadeli have the verbal affixation systems. Bothlanguages have only verbal suffixes not prefixes and infixes, but both have onlyone verbal prefix i.e.notin English and–nāiin Baitadeli. English has less verbalsuffixes than that of Baitadeli. In English /-ing / is only the continuous suffix forverb but Baitadeli has /-lār/,/-lāθ /, /-lārek/ are continuous suffixes for the verb.This study containsfour chapters.Chapter one includes general background,review ofthe related literature, objectives of the study and significance of thestudy. Chapter two dealswith methodology adopted in carrying out the research. Itcontains the sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedure, toolsand process of datacollection, limitation of the study.Chapter three consists of theanalysis and interpretation of the data. The data was collected through thequestionnaire and analyzed. The parallel interpretation between English andBaitadeli was done in this chapter.Chapter four incorporates the major findings ofthe study on the basis of analysis and interpretation of the data. It also deals withsome recommendations made on the basis of findings ofthestudy.en_US
