dc.description.abstract | This research analyzestheimpact of genetic engineering to the ecosphere in Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake by applying ecocritical perspective. It focuson theissue ofhow genetic engineering in this ageof globalization has been the causative factor in destroying the environment/ ecological balance.This research shows how the anthropocentric behaviours has destroyed the nature, ecology and brought mass devastation.The ecocritical insights envisioned byLawerence Buell,Vandana Shiva andJeffery M. Smith are used as theoritical parameters to analyze and interpret the primary texts.It also usesthe environmental apocalyptic theory by Frederick Buell andLawrence Buell as an explanatory framework or conceptual framework to explain how human centeredness or selfishness has caused environmental apocalypticism.
