dc.description.abstractThis research study entitled “A Study on Writing Proficiency of the Students of Higher Secondary Level” attempts to find out the actual writing proficiency of the twelfth graders in the use of Punctuation, Article, S-V agreement and Preposition. To carry out the study the researcher selected four Higher Secondary Schools of Kathmandu district through judgmental sampling and forty students, ten from each school, were selected randomly. The researcher used both primary and secondary sources of data. A set of test items consisting two guided and two free writing was the tool for data collect on.The data were analyzed and interpreted on the basis of the tabulated data in accordance with the set objectives. The findings showed that the students’ performance was satisfactory.The students of ED-Mark College and Manamohan Memorial College performed better than the students of Janamaitri and Pashupati Multiple Campus. This thesis comprises four chapters. The first chapter deals with introduction which consists of general background, literature review, objectives of the study and significance of the study. The second chapter deals with the methodology used in the study: the sources of data, (both primary and secondary), sampling population and procedure, tools for data collection,process of data collection and limitations of the study. The third chapter consists of analysis and interpretation of the data to find out actual writing proficiency in the use of punctuation, article, s-v agreement and preposition. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted by using simple statistical tools like average, percentage and descriptive approach. The fourth chapter presents the findings derived from the analysis and the interpretation of the data. It also suggests some recommendations on the basis of the findings. The final section of the study includes the bibliography and appendices.en_US
