dc.description.abstractThe present study entitled, ‘Relevance of Children’s Literature in Language Teaching Course’ has been carried out to find out the attitudes of students’ and teachers’ of M.Ed. level towards relevance of children’s literature. This study was carried out using both primary and secondary sources of data. For primary data, sixty students and four teachers of M.Ed. level were selected by purposive non random sampling procedure from the four campuses of the Kathmandu valley. From each campus, 15 students of M.Ed. II year and a teacher who was teaching the course ‘Literature in Language Teaching Course’ were selected. The researcher used different set of questionnaires for teachers and students having both open-ended and close-ended questions. While analyzing the data collected from the respondents, it is found that children’s literature is relevant in language teaching course. And the students and teachers have positive attitudes towards including it in the M.Ed. course. Likewise the selected text, the novel ‘What Katy Did’ by Susan Coolidge is relevant in M.Ed. level. From the analysis of the collected data, it is found that the students and teacher are not satisfied with the allocation of teaching hours and weight for literature course. This study consists of four chapters. Chapter one consists of general background of the study, literature and language teaching, children’s literature, history of children’s literature, children’s literature in language teaching, use of children’s literature in teaching and learning of English at M.Ed. level, Master of English Education, an introduction to attitude, review of the related literature, objectives of the study and significance of the study.Chapter two consists of the methodology used in the study. The sources of data, sampling procedures, tools for data collection, data collection procedures and limitation of the study are also included. Chapter three includes analysis and interpretation of the data. Chapter four deals with the findings and recommendations of the study.en_US
