The research entitled "Reading Comprehension Ability in the English Language: A Case of Nine Grade Students" primarily deals with reading comprehension ability of grade nine students in Kavre district in orthographic and para-orthographic reading texts from both sources: seen and unseen. The sample population is 120 students of grade nine studying in six schools of Kavre district. Altogether six schools are taken from both sectors: public and private. Four types of question sets are used to test the reading comprehension ability of the students. The question sets are entitled Set-A (Orthographic seen), Set -B (para-orthographic seen), Sec -C (Orthographic unseen) and Set - D (para-orthographic unseen). The whole study explicates that reading comprehension of the students in seen text is better than reading comprehension in unseen text. Similarly, the students have better performance in para-orthographic text than in orthographic text. This study is divided into four chapters. Chapter one introduces general background, literature review, objectives and significance of the study. The second is an account of the methodology applied to carry out the research work and the limitations of the study. The third chapter analyzes and interprets the data by using some statistical tools to make the study objective and accurate. The fourth or the final chapter presents the list of findings made on the basis of data analysis and interpretation. Some pedagogical implications are recommended. The references and appendix are the concluding parts of the study.en_US
