A marxist critique of social inequality in Samrat Upadhyay's the Guru of love

Abstract

Ramchandra along with Goma and Malati have individual dreams that Ramchandra would like to be an engineer, an owner of a plot, having his own building and go to college respectively in Samrat Upadhyay's The Guru of Love. But high class people oppress the low class people as a barrier to fulfill the dream of low class people. In our society, low class people are subdued by high class people. So, after analyzing the text, The Guru of Love, through the Marxist reading, the result is drawn that the low class people are suppressed by the high class people. The potentiality of low class people is grabbed by the high class people. Whatever strength they have they become expired. Best efforts have been performed in portraying their character, manner, situation, obstacles, intimacies and so on. Marxism has been as a theory specializing in the class system. In most of the situations the main characters of the novel, Ramchandra, Malati and Goma have been found emotionally attached and share the same fate. Similarly, their destiny, problems and dreams are nearly alike. In the same manner, the high class people also share the same nature, culture and trend. Finally, they cannot fulfill their dreams as they imagine due to domination of the high class people.
