dc.description.abstracthisresearchis a study ofhow the female characters are taken to the subaltern level in the novel"The SariShop Widow."Female characters mostly, the protagonistAnjali Kapadia is being treated as a feeble human being without capacity. She is brave and determined but underestimated. The survey into the degraded plight of the subalterncharacters, the perspective of subalternity iswholly appropriate. Subalterncharacters are subjected to various harrowing consequences Anjali is an Indian widow in America who wants to upliftparent's businessin America; however, sheis doomedto face several obstacles from different aspect of super only. Her subordinated, excludedand alienatedlifeprove that she issubalternunder the grip of patriarchy, immigrant, widowship and inferiority in the business.
