dc.description.abstractThis study focuses on the “Girl's Participation in Learning Optional Mathematics”. The objectives of this study were to identify the current situation of girl student's participation in learning optional mathematics and to find the major factors affecting the girls participation in learning optional mathematics. The design of this study was qualitative with case study approach. For this study researcher selected one school from Kalikot district by purposive sampling. The in-depth interview guidelines and classroom observation were main tools for this study. Four girl students with respective parents, one mathematics teacher and head teacher were chosen as the respondents. The researcher had analyzed the information by descriptive method. The finding of the study shows that the participation of girls in learning optional mathematics is less than boys and traditional types of exercise in teaching learning activities was one of the factor effecting the girls participation in optional mathematics learning. There was no proper interaction between teacher and students. Similarly, the main factor affecting the girls participation in optional mathematics learning are poor economic condition and lack of education of the parents, house work load, lack of motivation of teacher and parents, school environment teaching learning process, optional mathematical contents and student-teacher interaction were the causes of less participation of girl students in learning optional mathematics learning.en_US
