dc.description.abstractThis research work entitled Perceptions of Students and Teachers of English on Home Assignment has been carried out to identify the students' perception on home assignment. The researcher used purpose non-random sampling procedure to select 4 English teachers and 40 students as the respondents from lower secondary level community schools in Kathmandu district with the main objective to identify the perceptions of students and teachers on home assignment in terms of regularity, difficulty, time, help in home and correction feedback. Two sets of questionnaire were used to gather the teachers' and students' perceptions separately. The data obtained from the respondents were analyzed and interpreted descriptively. It was found that difficulty, teachers' instruction, lack of interest, less support from parents, environmental factor of home, and external factors like light, room, learning materials, parents' consciousness are the most influencing factors of home assignment as the perception of students and teachers summarized as major findings. This study is divided into five chapters. The First chapter deals with introduction. It consists of background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms. The second chapter deals with the review of theoretical literature, empirical literature, implications of the review for the study and theoretical / conceptual framework respectively. Likewise, the third chapter includes the design and method of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, study area, tools and techniques for data collection, data collection procedure, data analysis and interpretation procedure. The fourth chapter deals with the analysis of data and interpretation of the results and summary / discussion of findings. Similarly, the data obtained from the students have been described, analyzed and interpreted descriptively. Finally, the last chapter deals with the conclusions and recommendations followed by references and appendices.en_US
