dc.description.abstractNadine Gordimer's July's People is an expression of revival of black's consciousness of the exercise of power, as represent by July himself. The majority of the blacks who were dominated by the minority of the whites are radically shaped and the roles got changed in political, social and economic levels. As the political discourse changed by the blacks to accumulate new bodies of information, as an integral part of the operation of power, the major character Maureen (white) is hegemonized by July, as a result of the role reversal (power reversal).en_US
