An Analysis of the Textbook: Enrich Your English

Abstract

This research is carried out to analyze the "Enrich Your English for B.A.First Year”. For this the textbook is analyzed in terms of physical aspects aswell as the adequacy of subject matters. The findings of the study are based onthe analysis of the textbook “Enrich Your English" on the basis of its physicalaspects and subject matter. Some of the main findings of the present researchare; the textbook is task-based., the contents are presented in simple ways withappropriate procedures and the textbooks are very long. They should bespecified by editing and removing the examples of Indian contexts. The present study is divided into four chapters. The first chapterincludes introduction of the English language in general, textbooks, advantagesand disadvantages of textbooks, kinds of textbooks, relationship betweencurriculum and textbook, the description of "Enrich Your English", review ofrelated literature, objectives and significance of the study. The second chapter concerns with the methodology used to carry out theresearch work. The third chapter deals with an analysis and interpretation of the"EnrichYour English". This chapter is divided into two sections for its proper analysis.The first section deals with the analysis of the physical aspects and the secondsection presents the analysis of the academic aspect of the textbooks. Chapter fourpresents the findings and recommendations, which sums upthe analysis and interpretation of data collected for the purpose of the research.
