dc.description.abstractIn Nepal, Dalit have been victimized of caste-based discrimination for long period of time. They have been facing problem of untouchability and are humiliated. Their minimum human rights are violated in every time of life. Representation in decision making level process is very low from the Dalit community. Not having land ownership deprived from educational opportunities, lack of employment poverty and very low level of standard of life are the major problems that are face by Dalit people. The study socio-economic status of dailit community (A Case Study of Bijuwar VDC ward no. 8 Pyuthan) analyzes the socio-economic condition on the dalit community of Bijuwar VDC, Pyuthan district. The specific objectives of the study were:l) To explore lite racy pattern of dalits ii)To find out social status of dalit community. iii) To find out economic status of dalit community. Iv)To understand reasons of backwardness of dalit in study area v).To offer recommendation for improving the condition of dalit community. The study was carried out being based on both descriptive and exploration research design. The primary data were generated through household survey. Direct field observation, key informant interview out of 150 HHs at dalit of Bijuwar VDC; 40 HHs were selected as total sampling size. Simple random sampling method was applied to conduct household survey from purposively selected words. The average house hold size of dalit community of Bijuwar VDC is 5.4. The majority of the couples get married in between the age of 20-22 years. About 67.5 percent of them lead nuclear family. The literacy rate of Pyuthan district is 46.6 percent. All population use public tap, 80 percent of respondents have modern latrine. The land holding is only 0.5 to5 ropani. About72.5 percent of respondents have involved foreign employment. The average food sufficient of the community for 4 months.en_US
