Abstract
The present thesis entitled Vocabulary Achievement of the Students of
Grade Seven was carried out to find out the vocabulary achievement by the
students. To collect data, both primary and secondary sources of data were used
while carrying out this research. Forty students from four schools (2 Public and
2 private schools) of the Kathmandu district were selected through judgmental
non-random sampling procedure for the study. I used test items for data
collection. It was found that private schools’ students showed higher level of
achievement of vocabulary in comparison to public schools’ students. It has
been recommended that separate exercises focusing on vocabulary should be
included in text book.
This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is an introductory part
which includes general background, statement of the problem, rational of the
study, objectives of the study, research question or hypothesis, significance of
the study, delimitations of the study, and operational definition of the key
terms. The second chapter as review of related literature and conceptual frame
work which includes review of related literature, implications of the review for
the study, theoretical/ conceptual framework. Chapter three deals with methods
and procedures of the study which includes sources of data, population of the
study, sampling procedure, tools and process of data collection, data analysis
and interpretation procedure. Chapter four, deals with results and discussion.
Likewise the fifth chapter deals with the summary, conclusion and implications
followed by references and appendices.
