The present thesis entitled 'Morphological Errors Committed by Maithili speakers’ aims at identifying the errors committed by the Maithili learners ofEnglish, studying in grade nine at the public schools. The tests were developedto collect data from the sampled population of eighty students of grade nine ofShree Chandra Ma. Vi. Siraha. These tests were prepared on two levels:competence level focused and performance level focused test items.Competence oriented test items were used to see how they selected suitableverb forms and the performance oriented test items were administrated to findout how theyselected suitableverb form,to express their daily life situations. Both the test items were prepared to identify the errors at the morphologicallevel. To make descriptive study of the morphological errors committed byMaithili speakers, their responses were taken as the data for furtherinterpretation on the basis of which further pedagogical implications could bederived. Item-wise analysis was done to identify the errors and to compare theirstrengths and weaknesses in relation to one another. Holistic analysis was doneto describe the quality of test items mainly in deriving the students commiterrors in selecting verb forms.
