Abstract
The present research work is a critical study of Tennessee Williams's Sweet Bird
of Youth(1959)from the feministic perspective in general and the gender roles in
particular. The research paper basically focuses upon the interpersonal relationship of the
protagonist Chance Wayne, a passive stud who merely dreams for the success to stand as
a famous Hollywood star; and another female character,Princess Kosmonopolis, a
successful film actress and artist. Hence, the conventional gender roles have been
reversed as the male protagonist Chance Wayneis seen to have femininetraits, and
Princessis depicted as having masculinity.
