Abstract
This research entitled 'Making Offers in English and Tharu has attempted to identify the forms of making offers used by Tharu native speakers and to compare them with the forms used by English native speakers on the basis offer mality level. Both primary and secondary sources of data have been utilized.The Tharu native speakers were the primary sources of data while previously conducted research and some authentic books such as Matrayek (1983),Blundell et al. (2009) were the secondary sources of data. The samples were selected through stratified random sampling procedure and they were provided questionnaires. The research found out that 112 different sentences were used by the English native speakers to make offers while 162 different sentences were used by the Tharu native speakers to make offers. Most of there spondents used interrogative forms of making offers in the English.
This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with general background and review of related literature. The second chapter includes methodology which was put into practice while collecting data. It includes sources of data, sampling procedure, tools and process of data collection and limitations of the study. The third chapter includes the analysis and interpretation of collected data. Based on those analyzed and interpreted data,some findings and recommendations are provided in the fourth chapter.Additional information is placed is appendices at last.
