Abstract
This Thesis entitled 'Struggle Against Cultural Orthodoxy to Gain Identity in Ayaan
Hirsi Ali's Nomad is an attempt to explore how Ayaan Hirsi Ali struggled against
cultural orthodoxy as reflected in her memoir 'Nomad'. The Problem why and how
Hirsi Ali struggled against her native culture motivated the researcher to the study.
With the objective to explain the reason behind her struggle and to point out how she
carried out her struggle, lead the researcher to reach the conclusion that over
exploitation upon female without any recognition of their existence in Muslim Society
was the main reason behind her move. To fulfill her aim she carried out her struggle
by quitting her family, by turning down every decision made by her father about her
and by getting involved in Politics and other Social Activism. Feminism is the
theoretical model that has been used for the analysis of the text.
