Abstract
The present study entitled “Language Used in News-bulletins of Kantipur Television”attempts to find out English words and sentences in news-bulletins of Kantipur television (KTV).This research was totally based on secondary sources of data and the sample of the study was judgmentally collected for the English news-bulletins of KTV. The fifteen regular bulletins were collected from 1viii st–15th May of 2010,altogether 150 selected sentences were analyzed. After the serious study during the course of this research, it has been found that complex sentences were highly used than simple and compound sentences. In terms of phrases: they were in super-abundance; however,it has focused only on ‘phrasal verbs.’ While tackling with the types of phrasal verbs, non-separable transitive (inseparable) have been found frequently used rather than other types of phrasal verbs.
This research study has been divided into four chapters: The first chapter of the study deals with general background, history and the development of mass media, media language,importance and roles of mass media, review of the related literature,objectives,and significance of the study. Chapter two deals with methodology,sources of data, sampling procedure, tools of data collection, process of the collected data, and the limitation of the study. Chapter three consists of analysis and the interpretation of data collection. And chapter four presents the findings and recommendations based on the analysis and the interpretation of the study.
