Role of Monitor in Learning the English Language

Abstract

This study entitled Role of Monitor in Learning the English Language aimed at finding the role of monitor in learning the English Language in the process of Second Language Acquisition. The study was carried out using data from both the primary and secondary sources. The data were collected through a written test and interview (structured) schedule. For this purpose, a sample of 40 students was selected from Mahendra Ratna Campus, Tahachal, Kathmandu. The study has found that Optimal Monitor Users are the best English language learners. It is concluded that the monitor has effective role in learning the English Language. This study has four chapters. The first chapter introduces the study which consists of general background, review of related literature, objectives and significance of the study. The second chapter mainly concerns with the methodology used in this study; the sources of data, sampling procedure, tools of data collection and limitations of the study. Similarly, the third chapter of the study comprises analysis and interpretation of the data. Based on the analysis and interpretation of data, the fourth chapter concludes with the findings and recommendations of the study. Furthermore, this chapter includes some suggestions. Finally, but foremost it presents some guidelines to further researchers who want to carry out study on this very topic. The concluding chapter is followed by the references and appendices that are used in the thesis.
