Item Classroom management in teaching speaking skill(2017) Sah, Samrit Lal; Anjana BhattaraiThe present research study entitled Classroom Management in Teaching Speaking Skillaims to find outthe different strategies used by secondary level English teachers for classroom management while teaching speaking skill.To meet the objective of this research study, I selected 5 secondary level English teachers from 5 secondary level community schools from Saptari district. Purposive non-random sampling procedure was used to select the sample. Questionnaire and classroom observation check list were used to collect the data for this study. Total 30 days were used for observation of 30 classes of secondary level English teacher in teaching speaking skill. Among them six classes were observed of each teacher. Findings of this study have kept under three strategies: physical, academic and disciplinary. It showed that arrangement of the furniture and decoration of the classroom, student-centered techniques,teachers told jokes,sang songs, asked questions from the previous taught lesson and played games,gave extra time and encouraged the shy students to speak in the classroom were the strategies used for classroom management while teaching speaking skill. This thesis is organized into five chapters. The first chapter deals with the background of the topic, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms. The second chapter includes review ofrelated theoretical literature, review of related empirical literature, implications of the review for the study and conceptual framework. Similarly, the third chapter includes design and method of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, study areas/field, data collection tools and techniques, data collection procedures and data analysis and interpretation procedures .Like wise, the fourth chapter presents the analysis and interpretation of results and summary of findings and the fifth chapter includes conclusions and recommendations followed by references and appendices.Item Developing students’ writing skill through facilitation(2015) Pela, Hikmat Singh; Anjana BhattaraiThis present research work entitled ‘Developing Students’ Writing through facilitation’ aimed at finding out the role of teacher as Facilitator in developing writing of the students. For the accomplishment of the research work, the researcher selected the forty five students of grade ten of Shree Janasewa higher Secondary School of Kathmandu district. First of all I administered a pre-test to get the students’ initial proficiency level and at the end of my teaching, I administered a post- test. During the four week teaching period, I administered two progress tests. The students’ answer sheets were analyzed to see the improvements in their writing. By comparing the answer sheets of pre- test and post – test, it was found that writing ability of the students was improved after adopting the role of teacher as facilitator. The study consists of five chapters. Chapter one deals with the introduction. It consists of background of the study, statement of the problems, rationale of the study, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study delimitations of the study and operational definitions of the key terms. Similarly, chapter two consists of the review of related literature and conceptual framework. It deals with review of related theoretical and empirical literature, implications of the review of the review for the study, and conceptual framework. Likewise, chapter three presents methods and procedures of the study. This includes design of the study, population and sample, sampling procedure, data collection tools, and data collection procedure. In the same way, chapter four consists of results and discussion of the data. Finally, chapter five incorporates summary, conclusion, and implications. On the basis of results and discussion, some important findings and Implication for the policy level, practice level and further research have been made. This chapter is followed by references and appendices to make the work more valid.
