Item English Code Mixing in Nepali Novel "Phirphire"(Department of English Education, 2017) Chaudhary, Hari LalThe research entitled, ''English Code Mixing in Nepali novel Phirphire'', is a study of English code-mixing in the Nepali novel "Phirphire" written by Buddhisagar. It centralizes to the analyses in to the use of English code in the novel "Phirphire".It aims to find out and analyze English code-mixing in terms of major word classes, frequency of occurrence of the word and context in which code-mixing takes place and find out the attitude of literary writers' and readers' towards English code-mixing in the Nepali novel. The primary source of the data of this study were 20 literary writers and readers from Sunsari district. The researcher used purposive sampling procedure for the collection of the data. The finding of this research shows that there is a large amount of English codes mixing in the novel "Phirphire". Nouns were used maximally followed by verbs, adjectives and adverbs respectively. Regarding the context of code-mixing, the writer was seen to have mixed English codes on such a context as: talking about education, film, science and technology, invention, competition, postcard, money, dress, vehicles, transportation, media and communication etc. The study has been divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with introduction which, in turn, consists of general background, statement of the problem, rationale of the study, objectives of research, research questions, significance of the study and delimitation of the study. The second chapter deals with the review of related literature and conceptual framework which consists of review of related literature, implication of the reviewed literature, theoretical framework and conceptual framework. The third chapter deals with methods and procedures of the study which consists of design of the study, sources of data, population of study, sampling procedure and sample size and tools of data collection. The fourth chapter deals with results and discussions which consists of results, frequency wise analysis of English expressions, context wise analysis of code-mixing, analysis of literary writers' attitude towards English code-mixing in Nepali novel and analysis of literary readers' perception towards English codes in Nepali novel. The fifth chapter deals with summary, conclusion, and implication.Item English code mixing in Nepali novel 'Karnali Blues'(Department of English Education, 2016) Prasai, Dibya JyotiThis research study entitled English Code Mixing In Nepali Novel ‘Karnali Blues’ is an effort to find out, analyze, and interpret the elicited English codes mixed in the Nepali novel 'Karnali Blues' written by Buddhisagar. For this study, the researcher had collected all the English expressions mixed in the novel and the assembled data were categorized grammatically, i.e. words, phrases, sentences and abbreviations. The researcher used judgmental purposive sampling procedure for the collection of data. All the English expressions mixed in the novel were categorized and analyzed in terms of word classes, phrases, sentences and abbreviations with their various frequencies of occurrence and the context in which Code-Mixings took place. As the primary sources of data for the study, 20 literary writers and the equal number of literary readers from Sunsari and Morang districts of Nepal were randomly selected. Then their statements and opinions were collected and analyzed. The findings of this research work show that a large number of English codes like nouns, adjectives, adverbs, abbreviations and sentences were mixed in the novel with their different frequencies. Nouns were maximally used followed by adjectives, verbs and adverbs. Regarding the context of Code-Mixing, the writer found mixing the English codes in various situations for e.g. while describing about hospital activities, school activities, putting on dresses, depicting the rural scene and many more.The study has been divided into five chapters. This is a quantitative type of research. Keeping the objectives in consideration, fifty teachers from six different Secondary Schools of Jhapa district were sampled through non – random purposive Sampling procedure. A set of structured questionnaire was the tool of data collection. The questionnaire consists of 18 statements related grading system. Such as teachers’ attitude towards letter grading system, educational management, implication and evaluation. The collected data were organized, tabulated, analyzed and interpreted by using statistical tool such as percentage to find out the attitude of teachers. The majority of teachers have positive attitude towards letter grading system. This thesis consists of five chapters.
