Item Classroom management by female English language teachers: A narrative inquiry(Department of English Education, 2019) Khadka, Bishnu MayaThis thesis entitled “Classroom Management by Female English Language Teachers”: A Narrative Inquiry was carried out to explore the factors which affect female English language teachers of Basic level to manage the classroom. To fulfill the set objectives of the study, both primary and secondary sources of data were used. The research was conducted by adopting the research tools; diary writing of class observation and semi- structured interview. The study shows that all affecting factors: social, physical and academic are prime factors for managing the effective classroom management by female English language teachers of basic level. It was found that to meet the teaching learning objectives classroom management is an essential part for creating fruitful and effective environment for teachers and students. Similarly, it was found that to overcome the affecting factors of classroom management, female English language teachers adopted various types of teaching techniques according to the need and interest of the learners as well as the content and context. The present study consists of five main chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction of the study along with background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definitions of the key terms. The second chapter contains the review of related literature and conceptual framework of the study. Similarly, the third chapter includes methods and procedures of the study, design of the study, population and sample, sampling strategies, data collection tools, data collection procedures, data analysis and interpretation procedures and ethical considerations. Likewise, the fourth chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of the collected data descriptively. Finally, chapter five comprises the findings, conclusion and recommendations in policy related and further researches. At the end, the references and appendices are have been included.Item Female Teachers’ Motivational Factors in Teaching English(Department of English Education, 2019) Pant, NarayaniThis research entitled Female Teachers' Motivational Factors in Teaching English was an attempt to explore the Female Teachers' motivational Factors in teaching English. The objectives of my study were to explore and analyze motivational factors that influence in the female teachers' teaching at basic level and to suggest some pedagogical implications. I used to qualitative approach, under this approach I used to narrative inquiry for the data collection. The sample of the study included four female English teachers of basic level from Kanchanpur district. They were purposively selected. I collected data through face to face interview. The study was mainly based on primary sources of data. It also included secondary sources of data. The primary sources were the four female teachers teaching at four different public schools at Kanchanpur. The findings of the study showed that the female teachers are motivated to their profession by their teaching responsibility and accountability, family support, respect by society; their interest and desire to work, student's behaviour, support from the colleagues, whereas the hindering factors are insufficient salary, gender inequality, and lack of administration support, transport problem and lack of training. The findings showed that female teacher faced most of the challenges and tension due to their gender. Dual responsibility makes them even more depressed. Transport is the major problem for women. Poor socio-economic condition of the area where school is situated decreases the teacher's motivation. This thesis consists of five chapters. And the fifth chapter deals with findings, conclusion and recommendations which are summed up from the analysis and interpretations of the collected data for the purpose of research. The references and appendixes have been included in the last part of the thesis.Item Identity construction by female English Language teachers(Department of English Education, 2023) Khatri, AlinaThis research study entitled Identity Construction by Female English Language Teachers was conducted to explore the identity construction of female English language teachers in secondary school and to identify the supporting and hindering factors faced by female English teachers. I used qualitative research design and adopted narrative inquiry as the method to carry out this research work. The population of the research included all the secondary level female English teachers of Kathmandu metropolitan city. In addition, four English language female teachers having more than ten years experiences were selected as the sample for the study by using nonrandom purposive sampling. I conducted in-depth interviews to elicit the required data. Moreover, the data were analyzed by using thematic approach. The finding showed that constructing the identity of secondary level female English language teachers is a challenging work because they have to complete most of the works at their homes. Likewise, it was also found that they felt more comfortable if they got support from their family, institution and society as well. However, they are struggling with the obstacles in front of them to construct their identities as secondary level English teachers. This study consists of five chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction of the study which consists of background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, rationale of the study, delimitations of the study, and operational definitions of the key terms. Similarly, second chapter is about the review of theoretical as well as empirical literature and its implication for the study. Moreover, it also includes the conceptual framework. The prime aim of this study is to find out the teachers perception on ‘Job Satisfaction’ and to identify the factors which affect job satisfaction. Out of 33 wards in Pokhara Metropolitan city, four wards were selected purposively for this study. There are seven Public Schools in these study area where total numbers of female teachers are 113. In any context education has played a vital role for overall development of the society in the history of mankind. It is duly said that history of mankind is just the history of education. The study has focused on the perception of female teachers regarding job satisfaction. It has been found that job satisfaction according to female teachers isn’t restricted to only salary rather there are other factors as well which they considers the influencing factors. The research shows friendly and supportive colleagues, interesting job, good employee- employer relationship, flexible and safe working place as the most important factors for job satisfaction. Almost all of them wanted some support from their family members for the betterment in their professional lives. Even they desired some sharing in their work with their family members. They do like multiple roles because it proves their capability. But they found it much more when they are not able to manage their roles and responsible in hard times. If female teachers has Gender Responsive working Environment there exists democratic norms in performing school activities teachers would enjoy more freedom of work and turn, her job satisfaction would be better in the present study. Directly or indirectly every respondents accepts that they are stuffed with more work load and responsibilities. Problem faced by women is stress caused by role conflict or multiple roles. There is close relationship between their incomes and expenditure. Their volume of expenditure generally shows their living standard and either they are enjoying the qualitative lives or not. Most of the female teachers are not given the proper opportunities. Also they are facing the problem of underestimation towards them.Item Job Satisfaction among Female Teachers of Public Schools (A Sociological Study based on Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City)(Faculty of Sociology, 2018) Adhikari, Santosi“The job satisfaction Among the Primary Level Female Teachers of Public Schools” is a study on different dimensions of teaching women. The prime aim of this study is to find out the teachers’ perception on ‘Job Satisfaction’ and to identify the factors which affect job satisfaction. Out of 33 wards in Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan city six wards of eastern parts were selected purposively for this study.There are 49 public schools in this study area where total numbers of primary level female teachers are 118.Out of them 80 female teachers were surveyed and analyzed questionnaire was used and in depth interviews were conducted to collect primary data. Almost all of them wanted some support from their family members for the betterment in their professional lives. Even they desired some sharing in their work with their family members. They do like multiple roles because it proves their capability. But they found it much more challenging when they are not able to manage their roles in hard times. The school environment attributes: positive teacher relationships and support from school management were positively associated with teacher job satisfaction, whereas stress and the factor that female teachers often experienced gender bias, stereotyping, underestimation and discrimination in the workplace.So it blocks women empowerment. If female teacher has Gender Responsive working Environment there exists democratic norms in performing school activities teachers would enjoy more freedom of work, and turn, her job satisfaction would be better in the present study. The empirical study has found some factors which affect job satisfaction of female teachers. The Dependent variables are salary, academic qualification, reward, training, supervision, long holidays (Sick leave, annual leave, maternity leave, casual leave etc.), insurance, medical allowance, short working hours, working environment, motivation and culture etc. These factors affected the teachers depending on the different type of schools. Directly or indirectly every respondents accepts that they are stuffed with more work loads and responsibilities. Problem faced by women is stress caused by role conflict or multiple roles. A coping resource that has been found to reduce stress is social support. There is close relationship between their income and expenditure. Their volume of expenditure generally shows their living standard and either they are enjoying the qualitative lives or not. The participation in decision making is found better because majority of them said that they participate in decision making at school. Most of the female teachers are not given the proper opportunities. Also they are facing the problem of underestimation towards them. The living standard and their participation are found to be better. Their functional participation in decision making on family matters also shows that there is good influence of professionalism on them. I used narrative research design to meet the objective of the study. The sample of the study included four female teachers of (lower secondary) level from Gorkha district. I used purposive non-random sampling procedure. I collected data through in-depth interview. The study was entirely based on primary sources of data. Data was analyzed qualitatively with the help of thematic analysis procedure. The findings of the study showed that ongoing teachers are personally motivated so they are satisfied with their job but drop out teacher are personally less motivated so they are dissatisfied with their job. Furthermore, findings of this research suggest that not only female English teachers but also other concern authority and guardian should have positive thoughts towards the female teacher job satisfaction. Similarly, the female teachers are dissatisfied with their profession. So, the government should bring new prospect and the program for female teachers. This thesis consists of five chapters. Each chapter is divided into different heading and subheading .The first chapter deals with the introduction of the topic in which background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, and significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms. The references and appendixes have been included in the last part of the thesis.Item Mathematics Teachers' Perception on Their Profession(Department of Mathematics Education, 2022) Ghimire, RameshThis is a survey research related to find the mathematics teachers perception on teaching profession. The purpose of this research was to find the difference between mathematics teachers' perception on their profession on the basis of gender, the place of origin and stream of education.To accomplish this objective, the researcher used the purposive sampling design with stratified techniques. The sample of the study contained 110 secondary level mathematics teachers including 38 schools from banke district in Nepal.There were two research questions to determine differences in perception of mathematics teachers about teaching career and individual beliefs in teaching profession viewed by others on the basis of their gender, area and stream of education.The researcher surveyed a questionnaire that contained 35 items which are related to teaching career and individual beliefs in teaching profession viewed by others. The researcher analyzed the questionnaire data using both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques by performing SPSS 22.0 setting 0.05 levels of significance.The results of this research showed that there is a positive perception on teaching profession of mathematics teachers. It also showed that there is significance difference between female and male mathematics teachers perception on teaching profession. And, there is significance difference between mathematics teachers from rural and urban on the perception on teaching profession. But, there is no significance difference between teachers from education background and non education background on the perception on teaching profession.Item Motivating Factors behind Female Teacher's Choice of ELT as a Profession(Department of English Education, 2019) Karanjeet, NishmaMotivating Factors Behind Female Teachers’ Choice of ELT as a Profession was carried to explore female English teachers’ motivation for selecting English language teaching as a profession. Considering the objectives, the primary data were collected from forty female English teachers, teaching at different levels in the school of Nuwakot. The participants were selected using simple random sampling procedure. Open-ended and close-ended questionnaires were used as tools for data collection. The data obtained from respondents have been analyzed and interpreted using statistical tools and descriptively as well. The study shows that teaching is the first choice of career for majority of the female English language teachers. Importance of English language at international level, rich in vocabularies and maxims, love towards English language, childhood dream to be an English teacher, hobby, interest in teaching and high scope of profession were major motivational factors of female English teachers. The study also shows that being an English teacher was a matter of pride to female, it gives respect in society and being in this profession, they can easily sustain in their life. The study also explores that, job enrichment, flexible working hours, merit pay and incentives were the major influencing factors to female teacher motivation. It was also analyzed that improving teaching and students learning, personal and professional development, preparing plan for instructions were the major of teacher motivation.
