Abstract
This thesis entitled‘A Comparative Study ofNachhiring Rai and EnglishKinship Terms’has been carried out to compare andcontrast Nachhiring andEnglishkinship terms of both consanguineal and affinal types from theperspectivesof both male and female ego.To accomplish the objectives of thestudy, the researcher collected Nachhiring Rai kinship terms from NachhiringRai native speakersby using purposive sampling procedure but English kinshipterms were taken from secondary sources of data. To fulfill the set objectives ofthe study, both the primaryand secondary sources of data were collected. Themajor findings of the study are: inEnglish, kinsmen are addressed by thecertain terms, so thenumbers of kinship terms aregreater in Nachhiring than inEnglishkinship terms. Similarly, in English, thereis no any distinction betweenelder and younger kinship relations whereas there is distinction between elderand younger in Nachhiring Rai. This thesis comprisesfivechapters. Thefirst chapter includesbackground ofthe study, statement of the problem, rationale of the study, objectives of thestudy,research questions,significance of the study,delimitations of the studyand operational definition of the key terms. Similarly, the second chapter dealswiththeoritical and empirical review of literature, implication of the reviw ofthe study and conceptual framework. Likewise, the third chapter deals with themethods and procedures of the study which includes the design of the study,population and sample, sampling procedure, data collection tools and datacollection procedures. The fourth chapter consists of the results and discussionof the collected data. Similarly, fifth chapter deals with summary, conclusionsand some implications based on the analysis and interpretation of the the data.Finally, this chapter follows by references and appendices.
